Soft tissue fillers, also known as dermal fillers, facial fillers, or simply "fillers," are used to fill in soft tissue defects, such as wrinkles and folds in the face. Some fillers are designed to add volume, such as to the cheekbones or chin, and are frequently used for lip enhancement.

Many materials are used as fillers, but the most popular are hyaluronic acid fillers, which are also found in human connective tissue.

The primary applications of filing materials are to correct lip contours, increase lip volume, make nasolabial lines natural, end irregularities in the mandibular area, diminish vertical lip lines, and smooth out lines around the nose and mouth (a.k.a. marionette lines, smile lines, and parentheses).

The area will be cleaned just before the treatment, and you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area before the injection. The length of the application depends on the size of the application area and lasts anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes. Results might be seen immediately following filler injections, depending on the product and the locations treated. You will be able to resume your normal activities immediately following treatment, but we may ask you to refrain from strenuous exercise or other strenuous activity for the rest of the day. The product, the location of treatment, and the patient all affect how long dermal fillers' effects will persist.
